Mason and Lael Boyd have been members of Mountain Chapel for four years, married for six years, and have a beautiful gift from God named Clare,who is three. Mason is from Sylacauga and lived there his entire life before leaving to attend college at Livingston University. From Livingston, he moved to Montgomery, Alabama and from Montgomery to Columbia, South Carolina. Ten years ago to the month, Mason decided to come home and permanently settled in the Birmingham area. Lael grew up in Lubbock, Texas and later moved to Montgomery, Alabama when she was eleven years old. After graduating from Auburn University of Montgomery with a degree in Education, Lael moved to Mobile before also deciding to move to and settle in the Birmingham area almost nine years ago. Mason currently owns his own remodeling/home-improvement company, Just the Basics, and Lael is a Project Manager in the IS department for ProAssurance.

In July, after months of prayerful consideration, they approached the church with a request to volunteer with the Youth, and in August they began volunteering full time with the youth on Sunday afternoons/evenings and Wednesday nights. It was during this time that God opened the door to the possibility of a permanent position for the Boyd’s with Mountain Chapel’s amazing youth and without hesitation they accepted it.
