United Methodist Women

The UMW is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and experience freedom as a whole person through Jesus Christ, develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. General meetings are held on the first Tuesday of January, March, May, September, November and December at 10:00 am at the church with lunch following in the Fireside Room.

Circle Meetings

•  Faith and Joy meet the second Tuesday, September – May, at 10:00am in homes or at the church
•  Circle of Fellowship meets second Tuesday, August – May, at 6:00pm at the church
•  Serendipity Tiara Girls meet second Tuesday September – May, at 6:00pm in the Fireside Room for dinner and Bible study

The Red Hat Society is comprised of a group of ladies who meet the fourth Wednesday of every month for lunch and fellowship. Check the Messenger or contact the office for details.

Women’s Spring Retreat

In April 2007, 25 women from Mountain Chapel attended a Women of Joy Conference in Gatlinburg, TN. The response was overwhelmingly positive thus began our annual Women’s Spring Retreat. Each retreat is designed to promote spiritual growth and lasting friendships. They are held within driving distance of Birmingham. Past sites include St. George Island, Florida, Callaway Gardens, Georgia, Doublehead Resort in Town Creek, AL. In 2011 we had over 50 ladies at Lake Guntersville Resort State Park. Our next retreat is scheduled for Lake Guntersville Resort State Park April 12-15, 2012.

Each year, around Valentine’s Day, we gather in the Fireside Room to enjoy wonderful desserts and hear about upcoming events, Bible studies and activities specifically for women. You are welcome to bring friends, neighbors and   co-workers. Check the weekly Messenger or News and Events page for details about any of the events.
