Mission Trips
Having sent several mission teams around the world and hoping to send more in the coming years, Mountain Chapel is a local church with a global heart.
Our first mission trip was to Jamaica in February of 1997 to repair a beautiful church that was damaged by a hurricane, and since then, we have sent five teams to Costa Rica where the Methodist Church is growing rapidly. In 1999, we helped build a girls’ dorm at a Methodist campground in El Peje. In 2000, we were in San Isidro enlarging a sanctuary. In 2002, we were back in El Peje building a home for the pastor and returned there in 2004 to build a new Sunday school building that included a kitchen. In 2006, we went to Villa Briceno to dig holes for the footings of new buildings, scrubbed walls to get rid of mold, mixed and poured concrete, painted various parts of the building, and taught VBS at the local school. Our next trip is scheduled for June 9-19 in 2008.
All of our mission trips are sponsored by the United Methodist Men (UMM) and include a Vacation Bible School for the children of the area. If you would like to participate in our next mission trip, watch the Messenger or News and Events for more information or contact the church office.
Africa
Partnering with a small, growing denomination in Tanzania, Mountain Chapel is blessed to have many opportunities to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ around the world.
With prayers, encouragement, and financial contributions through Change for Change donations, Mountain Chapel hopes to make a difference through our Christian friends and the lost in this country. To volunteer for the Tanzania support team that prays and corresponds with Christians in this country, please contact Tom Parrish through the church office.
